Weekly vs Monthly Cleaning: Which Fits Your Home?

The question we’re asked at almost every walkthrough is some version of “how often do we actually need this?” The honest answer depends on three variables, and none of them is the size of your home.

The three variables that matter

  • Bodies. Every additional person roughly halves the time a home stays clean. A couple’s condo and a family-of-five terrace are different planets.
  • Pets. One short-haired cat is a rounding error. Two shedding dogs are a standing weekly appointment, whoever does the cleaning.
  • Tolerance. Some people notice dust at four days, some at four weeks. Neither is wrong — but your plan should match the person with the lower threshold, or the plan causes arguments instead of preventing them.

When weekly earns its keep

Households with children, pets or anyone with dust allergies almost always land on weekly. The visits are shorter because nothing ever gets far gone, bathrooms never cross into scrubbing territory, and the home sits at “guest-ready” as its resting state. Most of our weekly upkeep clients tell us the real product isn’t cleanliness — it’s the end of the weekend chore list.

When fortnightly is the sweet spot

Working couples, tidy-by-nature households, smaller condos: every two weeks holds the line well, at about two-thirds the monthly cost of weekly. The trade-off is that bathrooms and floors do noticeably drift by day ten or so. If that drift bothers you, you’re a weekly household pretending otherwise.

When monthly genuinely is enough

One occupant, no pets, home mostly evenings only? A monthly deep visit plus fifteen minutes of your own upkeep weekly is a perfectly rational setup, and we’ll say so at the walkthrough rather than upsell you. Monthly stops making sense the moment cleaning becomes recovery instead of maintenance — if each visit starts from scrubbing, the maths favours shorter, more frequent visits anyway.

A test you can run this month

Book a single deep visit, then count the days until the home stops feeling done. Under seven: you’re weekly. Seven to fourteen: fortnightly. Past three weeks: monthly, and congratulations on your habits. Our rates page shows what each rhythm costs; the walkthrough will confirm it for your exact place.
